With the Albanian grade 4 students we made good discussions about the book they have red, and the presentation prepared. They were enthusiastic to show theme, character’s impact, message, new words, etc.

Some grade 5 students showed linguistics skills on answering some basic questions about our last topics.

Parents were happy with the progress that was made during this time. They are very interested on the program, and Albanian books.

Grade 4 parents expressed and confessed the difficulty students have with doing Albanian after lunch. They ask to put it before, as students are more focused. This is a suggestionfor next year.

Grade 5 parents made more questions about the national exam at the end of the year, which is requested by the ministry of Education, VANAF.

All the work we have done till now was ready as an evidence for every parent interested on it.

The meetings went well. Timing was respected by everyone, with very small exceptions.

Students felt comfortable to read and express thoughts and ideas in front of parents and teacher.

A suggestion might be the closure of the sign-up sheet at a certain day to avoid parents that show at the very end of the day.

I was very oppened to the suggestions parents made, affecting mostly more reading Albanian books.

We are delighted to see our students in Kindergarten A along with their parents. The students were eager to share their knowledge and learning to their families and siblings. We were amazed on how our students were able to accomplish the tasks and had fun learning with their family. Most of our kids delivered the Student Led Conference with confidence. They gave out a well done presentation for parents and shared their acquired knowledge on what they have done and current topic for Numeracy, Literacy and Unit of Inquiry.

Our families had a cheerful experience with their kids during the presentation. They asked questions to their kids wherein, they were answered intelligently by our students. The parents were very interactive and participated with enthusiasm.

Parents were listening well to the students explain, but they didn't really understand that they could do the work. A lot of them made their children do the exercises put out, even when the kids asked them to try.

We set up stations and let the kids choose where they would like to lead their parents. I left out whiteboards with instructions/guiding questions and it worked well when students weren't sure what to say.

Students were really proud showing their work, and parents were impressed at how well students could explain their learning.

Most students were shy/scared to speak to their parents about their learning. As time passed, they became more confident.

I was so proud to see our students confidently lead their SLC. They shared their learning journey with enthusiasm, demonstrating their growing vocabulary in French. It was wonderful to see them take ownership of their progress and proudly explain their learning to their parents.

Parents expressed genuine happiness seeing how much their children’s vocabulary had expanded and were pleased with the progress being made. Parents also appreciated the practice materials and worksheets sent home for the holidays, finding them helpful in encouraging continued learning outside the classroom.

All the materials and work completed in class were well-organized and readily available for any parent who expressed interest. Parents showed genuine appreciation for the effort and structure behind the classroom activities. They were particularly pleased to see their children's notebooks filled with notes and vocabulary practice, which reflected the students' engagement and learning progress. Parents also expressed gratitude for the at-home projects, which helped reinforce classroom learning.

Grade 2 parents, in particular, appreciated the fruit salad project that students were asked to complete at home. Families enjoyed working together on the activity, with many sharing that they had a lot of fun filming the video or making the poster. Parents were proud to see their children present their project in French and valued the opportunity to be part of their learning experience in such a meaningful and creative way.

Most students were well prepared and happy to share their work with their parents. They were confident in their work and if they were unclear about what to do, they had no problem asking for our help.

Parents were happy to listen to their children and learn more about their work. They enjoyed the interview station where they had the chance to select reflection questions for their child to answer. Another highlight was playing a math game together, as this allowed them to see their child practice their math skills and also play with each other.

The meetings all went well and students were proud to share their work. A highlight for us was math station set up with math games to play together. It was a great way for parents to see their children exhibit their math skills in a fun and interactive activity.

The only challenge we had was with the timing of the meetings. Some parents came late to the meetings because they were meeting with specialists on other floors of the school and didn't have transition time.

I was very happy with the student led conferences this year. I think we did a great job being around and available to support or answer questions while also letting the students lead the meeting.

We spent a lot of time working on individual plans (based on a class brainstorm of what they could do/show for Maths/Literacy/UOI).

Unfortunately the students mostly didn't actually look at their plan during the session!

A few had memorised it, but others needed some prompting.

So we need to go over what a 'Plan' is and how to use it.

Mostly the parents seemed to understand that the students were in charge and to go along with it. Some were a bit negative/critical of their child's work.

I didn't have any problems except when the sheet was locked some parents panicked and thought their slot was no longer valid.

There are ways to schedule appointments in Google so that parents can't delete or change anyone else's. I heard that M365 has an equivalent system, so it would be great if that could be utilised next year.

One student who is low academically and normally lacks confidence presented very well, so that was a big win.

In general I was happy with how it went, especially for the 1st time (though I had done something similar in a prior school).

Giving students the choice of what they would show or do for each subject makes it harder to make it 'impressive' for parents - it is easier to be smooth and perfect if they all do the same thing. BUT I don't want to change that because the student agency is more important in my opinion.

Key takeaway for me was making sure they understand how to actually use their plan on the day.

An issue is that some work they would want to show e.g. summative projects has already gone home. Also we had just completed a summative exhibition where parents were invited. I'm not sure how to approach that.

During the Student-Led Conference (SLC), the art presentations went particularly well. Students confidently explained their creative process, choice of materials, and the meaning behind their artwork. They showed pride in their projects and demonstrated strong visual communication skills. Many were able to reflect on how their skills have developed over time, and parents responded positively to the variety and originality of the work displayed.

The schedule is very difficult for parents to follow. I was thinking, maybe there’s a way for a parent to choose time slots that allow them to complete their meetings consecutively, without having to wait around or spend the whole day at school. Just an idea that we could perhaps look into together to help ease this situation, which I believe many of us are facing.
