French predictions grid with sounds/genre/mood/weather/setting all on one sheet. Sorry for typos - French is not my main language! I am using this for Expo 2 topic 1 on weather amongst other things so with the Les Crayons clip. If time allows I will contrast it with the video 'Chateau de sable' from the ESMA awards (search for it on youtube) as this is quite different and also very evocative. I still want students to think about and imagine the settings stage by stage, so I have laid it out in columns and will get them to fold the sheet over so they start with the first column and then unfold each new column gradually. As the topic has been weather, I may also give them a contrasting French weather forecast to really surprise them and show them how much they can learn about a text even if it is very fast and authentic!

I have created a table into which I have been collecting all the activities we have been mentioning in the first week with regards to 'sound'. I have indicated the learning objectives, the grammar focus, the possible outcomes, the checking for learning and added one more column: a detailed description of the activities that will help me assess how well the learners are progressing to fulfill the learning outcomes.
