Medgar Evers was a Civil Rights Activist who, in the beginning, worked for more education for colored people. They wanted higher education and more choices instead of the normal Agriculture classes. Even as a young boy, Evers had followed in his Fathers' footsteps and he worked on not letting the local people step over him. He was very determined in what he believed.

Evers was shot in the back on the short walk up to his house, after a NAACP meeting, where he was left to bleed to death. There was a large march after the news spread. The peaceful protesters were taken into custody. A little girl was hit and a middle aged woman was wrestled to the ground. About 147 protesters were arrested.

After 30 years, the killer was found. Bryon De La Beckwith Jr. was an American white supremacist and former Klansman from Greenwood.

Medgar evers always looked up to his Father. Despite being of color, his Father never let the white men terrorize him or his family. The family grew some crops so they always had something on the table. His Father did not know how to write or read but he sure knew numbers. When selling or buying things he would never let someone trick him. He was not afraid to tell other people what he thought. Medgar Evers went to school and he even graduated college. He was, as a young child, always with his brother. They did almost everything together until they went to war. Evers found his later to be spouse, in college. He was an over all good child and he tried to stay out of trouble.
