         <title>Guillotine</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The guillotine(also called the national razor) was a machine invented during the french revolution and was used to behead humans. It causes a quick death, with little to no pain, that we know of, and became a symbol of terror during the revolution. It beheaded thousands of people, including King Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>King Louis XVI ruled France from the year 1774 to his death in 1792, he was the last king of France. He was seen as a very lazy ruler, and spent much of his time avoiding the problems instead of fixing them. He was tried with treason by his own people after attempting to make an escape to Austria with his wife. He was killed by the guillotine  in the height of the revolution.</div>]]></description>

She, alike her husband, was widely disliked by the people of France, and was given the nickname Madame Defect by the people. She spent lots of money on her appearance and was very oblivious to the problems happening in the country. </div>]]></description>

His legacy was increased after he was killed in his bathtub by Charlotte Corday after requesting a list of names for people who were against the revolution. He became a religious figure for the revolution and was cemented as one of the most important roles of the revolution. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The capital of France was moved to Versailles by King Louis XVI in an attempt to remove himself from the hardships of daily life in Paris. The palace constructed was massive and spanned over two thousand acres, making it the largest royal domain in the world. The palace itself held the King and his royal family, along with many close nobles and second estate members.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The Third Estate</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The third estate made up most of Frances population, roughly 97%, and was made up of city laborers, merchants, and peasants, along with the bourgeoisie (wealthy upper class of third estate). The third estate had to deal with many hardships including heavy taxes that the first and second estates didn't have to pay. Members of this estate got fed up with the lack of leadership with the king and decided to revolt and create a new government.</div>]]></description>

Although he lead the people to the revolution, the power he gained corrupted him and he flew out of control, causing the reign of terror. He was ultimately executed by his own people which many see as the marking point for the end of the revolution. </div>]]></description>

Roughly forty thousand people were killed during  this time period, as accusations flew wild. If a person was accused, they would often times be killed that same afternoon.</div>]]></description>
