This series, (as you know) is very fast paced and thrilling. It is exciting and leaves you wanting more. It is a fiction/sci-fi kind of story that really drags you in. And it's an entire series so student will want to read all 5 books! It focuses mainly on one character but you feel connected to so many other characters because of the interactions the main character shares with them. It allows readers to understand what it is like to feel trapped, not only emotionally but physically. Students will read about perserverance and determination, as well as mysteries and friendships!

Most of them, if not all, are set during a specific war. The dialogue is well grounded, and typical of people in 1939-1945. They are filled with a good bit of action, as well as some morally ambiguous characters. Whose side you go with really depends on the book. They would be amazing for reading for the bell-ringers, as after each 10-minute chunk, there is a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more. It really keeps you hooked. I read this book in 4th grade and again in 6th grade. It is appealing to most audiences as a suspenseful, intriguing story. In the book, a young, poor girl named Serafina who lives in the basement of the Biltmore Mansion in the 1800s discovers that a man in a black cloak is killing people. She meets a rich boy from upstairs and they try to figure out who the man is. This book is really fun because you get to guess who the man is while reading the book. The only problem with this book being in a classroom is that people tend to spoil the plot, and fight over the book. There are three other books in the series that are good as well. I have included the cover art, as well as the book trailer. All in all, this book is very good because it is educational, historical, suspenseful, and is a horror book that is slightly scary, but people who easily get scared can still read it. This book would benefit our bookshelves greatly and will definitely be flying off of them in no time!

I say this because this book has non-stop action and interesting plot so the reader will never get bored of reading it. It's a continuation of the Percy Jackson series and also teaches about Greek and Roman mythology. One example of the interesting plot is how the book starts off with one of the main characters, (Jason) wakes up on the back of the bus not knowing anything about himself and holding hands with a girl he doesn't know. The book also has 3 different perspectives of the other 2 main character that will keep the reader interested.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a book where a boy named Bruno moves to a new home because of his father's job. There he sees that there is a fence, and on the other side of the fence are people. (This story is set during the Holocaust) Bruno meets a kid on the other side of the fence named Shmeul. He talks to Shmeul and becomes friends with him, but at what cost? This book is one of those books where if you stop reading, you can't sleep at night because you're wondering what'll happen next.
