         <description><![CDATA[<p>As a teacher, we are supposed to be a facilitator, a guide, instead of a master. Students need to be initiative and get more involved to show their voices in the process of their learning. It is better for students to help their peers than always looking for the teacher.</p><p>Therefore, the collaborative work should be promoted in Maths teaching. When we set up the formative assessments, it can be a group work. Thus, the students can help others in the same group to complete the tasks. We could also let the students get paired so they would have a learning partner. They could then learn from each other and get support and confidence more from the partner.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>When I explain the concept of a function, I say, "Imagine that you have a computer where you can enter one number and it will give you a <strong>unique</strong> value. So a function is a rule that the computer uses to calculate what to answer you." I then show examples of linear functions such as y=kx+b and invite students to play: "I will be the computer. You have to guess my rule-function. You can enter as many numbers as you like. On the board, we will write down the input number and the one I will give out, making a table."&nbsp; "I usually start with simple cases: direct proportionality, then I make it look like y=kx+b, sometimes I can also guess the inverse proportionality or exponential function. At some point, you can also ask one of the students to replace you as a computer. This can be done both in groups and individually.</p>]]></description>
