When leaders build trusting relationships, they are respected more. Building a rapport that makes your followers comfortable talking to you about all situations is significant when you are a leader. No one wants a leader who disburses a crowd when they enter the room. Having a welcoming, understanding, sympathetic demeanor shows greatness as a leader.
A collaborative leader is another significant attribute to have. Listening, including and valuing the opinions and ideas of others is vital when holding a leadership role. It’s not to say that all the ideas will be included in the final planning, however it does give followers a sense of inclusiveness. Inviting others in planning and decision making shows compassion. Leaders who are self center and arrogant usually fester a negative work environment.

These characteristics can be established if you make self transformations. 
First, one would have to acknowledged there is a change needed to be made.  
Second, seek help from a mentor. Accept and apply the advice that your mentor suggest.
Next, work diligently towards the improvement.
Last, have your mentor evaluate and debrief your progress, giving honest feedback.
