         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. I noticed that when we went to ELC, even though the kids were generally playing together, they are starting to notice gender differences. For example, there was one girl on the bicycles but there were like 7 other boys. Also, I noticed that the kids were hanging out in groups (mostly one gender per group) | Gender (maybe because of social norms)&nbsp;<br>2 . We could raise awareness that there are no rules of what they can or cannot do as a girl or a boy. &nbsp;<br>3. We could try to play with them or talk to them and understand if they feel comfortable with the opposite gender (around) and also talk to them about what they think is normal for both genders to do.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Gender stereotypes:</div><div>     - society's ideas about the proper way for girls and boys to behave and look</div><div>Example: </div><div>     -  Girls are expected to: </div><div>         play with dolls</div><div>     -  Boys are expected to: </div><div>         play with trucks </div><div>-Society gives one gender role to girls, and another to boys. (gender stereotyping)</div><div>-Stereotypes for boys and girls can be dangerous<br><br></div><div>-Children who do not follow them:<br><br></div><div>     - can be made to feel unhappy with themselves<br><br></div><div>     - other children might pick on them <br><br></div><div>     - at risk of killing themselves or being killed<br><br></div><div>- strongly established in a child's mind by age 10 or 11<br><br></div><div>- some societies are beginning to accept girls who want to dress or act like boys<br><br></div><div>- society is harsher on boys:<br><br></div><div>     - not allowed to act or look like girls<br><br></div><div>     - boys who do are often bullied, teased and beaten.<br><br></div><div>- young children learn to think of :<br><br></div><div>     - girls as weak and helpless<br><br></div><div>     - boys are seen as "strong and independent."
