Luisa Fernanda Castro - Juan Jose Serpa Serna In Faust, key traits of the period are clear. Scepticism of religion is shown as Fausto rejects faith, making a pact with the devil. His search for power drives him to seek more knowledge and success, no matter the cost. Dramatism is seen in his emotional struggles, while the moral ambiguity of his actions challenges simple judgment. In our opinion, these themes make Faust a deep reflection on human ambition and its tragic consequences.

Faustus seeks forbidden knowledge through magic, challenging the limits imposed by religion, and although he has opportunities to repent, he chooses not to. The play explores the fear of eternal damnation and critiques the obsession with power and wisdom that contradicts religious faith.

Valentina Moreno ✨

One characteristic could be religious skepticism. During this time, the relationship between Catholicism and Protestantism created doubts about traditional religious beliefs. For this very reason it is noticeable in the work when Faustus was dissatisfied with theology and the limits imposed by religion, so he seeks knowledge through magic.
