Once the dog was seen the dog persuaded his owner with Doritos to keep him from talking. By displaying the dog messing with the cat's collar and bribing the owner with Doritos, it seems plainly obvious that it is the owner. Despite all this, there was a hint in the beginning where it looked like the man was burying something. The camera then jumps to a shot of the dog messing with a tag for a lost cat in the dirt. One might connect the buried cat and husband burying dirt, but the upon closer inspection the dog is seen putting more dirt onto the tag in an attempt to hide it. Further, when the man in the dirt sees the dog burying the cat, he immediately runs over and slides him a bag of dorritos with a sticky note over it saying "You didn't see nuthin" which tells us that the dog is hiding something it doesn't want prying eyes to see. The collar was definitely the cat's because it can be seen in it's picture on the missing poster, and it can be assumed that the rest of the cat was also being buried. The canine had in his possession the cats collar. In addition the canine wrote a letter to the owner asking him to not speak about the cat.
