Gets into trouble (for?) and is sentenced to some kind of exile.

Finds himself in the middle of an uninhabited planet--there's an abundance of plantlife but no people or animals. He soon finds the plants are more "alive" than he's used to--they speak, animate themselves, some can even uproot themselves and move around.

Character goes through different trials of survival here. Is unable to use plants for shelter as they all have nearly infallible ways of defending themselves or killing him--and--they're intelligent beings. Eating fruit is also a conflict--he is stealing and eating their children.

Ultimately he finds shelter through friendship (how?) and sacrifice. Maybe a plantlife sacrifices itself to protect him and/or provide shelter, causing him to break down over the loss of a dear friend.
