I think that the lesson or theme of the story is always to be honest because Peng told the truth and he became emperor while the other kids lied and didn't walk home with anything. This is why I think the lesson or theme of the story is always to be honest.

I think the theme/moral of the text is that you should be honest, even when the truth is hard. This is a good trait to have in a ruler, for sometimes, the truth is hard to admit, but you have to.

I think the inciting incident (pretty sure it means the beginning of the problem) of the story is when Ping plants the seed, he even changes the pot to a bigger one and puts even richer soil, and waters it every day, and yet it still doesn't grow.

Question #1 The lesson of the book is honesty and integrity because when Ping got his seed, he planted and was committed to growing it. Ping didn't give up on his seed with another seed and he did the right thing while the others planted different seeds.

The lesson or the theme is to always tell the truth no matter what because if you do someday something great will happen to you. In the story Ping grew the seed that the emperor gave him and he was brave enough to present his empty pot and he also told the truth so he got rewarded emperor while everyone walked home empty handed.The event that I would characterize as the inciting incident is when Ping planted the seed and then gave it better soil and more room to grow.
