         <description><![CDATA[<div>I want to look at how my high school handles the students we receive from abroad.&nbsp;We have a rather high population of foreign students due to the casino industry. I want to study how these students are supported, how their foreign transcripts are handled,  and how they are placed. I also want to study how the guidance counselors charged with these tasks feel they are supported and what, if anything, can be done to improve the experience. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think a constructivist approach would be a good fit for this research project. The guidance counselors here in the US and the students coming in from various other countries each bring with them their own view of reality, vis a vis schooling especially. The constructivist approach also emphasizes the role of the researcher within the study and as a French teacher, I have my own views on international students and how they are placed in classes at my high school. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I will be conducting interviews with all 8 guidance counselors at my high school, as well as the guidance supervisor. I would also like to include interviews with the Director of Secondary Education, building Principal, and Superintendent if I can secure them. I am also considering holding a focus group with our ESL department as they are usually the front line of working with these students as they come into our school. </div>]]></description>
