         <description><![CDATA[<div><sup>Born in 1775 as the second daughter of a family of eight, in Steventon, Hampshire, England.<br>Her big family and vacations to Bath and London influenced much of her work, as well as having access to a large network of familial and friendly relationships. Scholars speculate if the royal scandals that occurred in her time also influenced the adultery mentioned in her novels.</sup></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><sup>She is often applauded for capturing the essence of every day life in the Upper and Middle classes. However she did not get as much recognition in her time as she does now due to publishing her work anonymously. She shared her small amount of success with those closest to her It wasn't until the last century that her work began to grow substantially in popularity. Austen was only able to complete six novels before her death in 1817. She left behind three works in her manuscript, a short novel, and an unfinished novel.</sup></div>]]></description>

The characters who commit such scandals are the male side characters like Mr. Wickham from&nbsp;</sup><em><sup>Pride and Prejudice,&nbsp;</sup></em><sup>John Willoughby from&nbsp;</sup><em><sup>Sense and Sensibility,&nbsp;</sup></em><sup>and Captain Frederick Thorpe in&nbsp;</sup><em><sup>Northanger Abbey.&nbsp;</sup></em><sup>In Austen's time, there was a prince who often had affairs and illegitimate children. Many also wonder if  Austen was a witness to such scandals while living in the town of Bath, where a couple of her novels take place. </sup></div>]]></description>
