HUMAN-ENVIRONMENT INTERACTION

A way that people living in Singapore interact with the country is by using fish and other kinds of seafood as food sources, taking advantage of the fact that Singapore is located near the sea.(The Food We Eat|AVA). An inference we can make about Singapore as well is that there are many people who own boats there. Since they live near the sea, it is most likely.
Human-interaction in Singapore had started out as not so great. The city had been rich of trees, until 98% of them were cut down to to be used as building material. People had then turned their effects on the land, to negative, with pollution. The main source of of pollution was through air and water. The carbon emission level in Singapore had caused much of pollution for the air. The waste, and oil from import and export industries caused pollution for the many water bodies in Singapore. Urbanization is one of the very extreme environmental issues. It is known that about 90% of Singapore has gone through deforestation, in the period of 1980 to 2010. Looking at 179 countries, Singapore was among one of the worst with environmental issues. To end this problem of the environmental issues, a new plan, named “The Singapore Green Plan, 2012” was created. It was expected to help make more reuseable sources, plant more often to decrease carbon, polluting the air, supply clean water for homes and industries, and create clean lands by recycling, trying to keep junk from going to landfills. All this information is supported by and in the article, “Asian Studies: Singapore”.

Southeast Asia is a region in Asia located in the southeastern part of Asia. Countries in the region of Southeast Asia include Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar [Burma], Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, and the Philippines, according to Ms. Annette. Languages spoken in the various countries of Southeast Asia include Sino-Tibetan: e.g. Burmese (Myanmar); Tai languages: Thai, Lao. Austro-Asiatic: Mon, Khmer (Cambodian); Vietnamese, according to "Spoken and Written Languages of Southeast Asia". Religions practiced in Southeast Asia include Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Animism, Christianity(Catholicism), and Confucianism.(Religions of Southeast Asia). Southeast Asia has a tropical climate with many tropical rainforests and mountains. In these environments many endangered animals make their homes. An environmental problem in Southeast Asia is that there are many poachers that are willing to make money out of animal products that are taken from the animals from the local environment. This means that the country is losing animals that lived there originally.(6 Environmental Challenges Facing Southeast Asia and How you can Help). A political problem in Southeast Asia is that Singapore's prime minister Lee Kuan Yew died, and both parties have no idea what to do while their representatives take the lead. This means that the country might not be able to continue with it's good politicial power.(Singapore’s First Election After Lee Kuan Yew Promises Continuity). Singapore is an area with a tropical climate, staying hot and humid even in winter. The lowest temperature everrecorded in Singapore was about 67 degrees Fahrenheit, based on "Singapore Travel Guide".
