No doubt the Rig Vedic Women in India enjoyed high status in society and their condition was good. Even the women were provided opportunity to attain high intellectual and spiritual standard. There was no sati system or early marriage. But from enjoying free and esteemed positions in the Rig-Vedic society, women started being discriminated against since the Later-Vedic period in education and other rights and facilities. Child marriage, further worsened the women's position. In recent years the role and Status of women has undergone some drastic changes due to globalization and commercialism. So keeping in view the present paper has the objectives
(a) to study the role and status of women from ancient time.
(b) to investigate whether the status of women in modern Indian society regarding Equality, Education, Marriage and Family life, Race and Gender, Religion and Culture is maintained . This paper explores that as the society is developed in 21st century the position and respect of women is maintained after so many constitutional provisions are not sufficient to get the respectable position in society. In Modern times technology developed, globalization and commercialism come in to existence but the status and position of women is rather deteriorated.

Gender Equality is not only a fundamental right but is a very vital necessity for the people to follow to make our world a better, civilized, and not biased place.

The old India is literally very different from the new India is just a saying. If we go to small villages, we will see that girls not women, are married off at literally an early age. Which is the same as the old times. WE REALLY HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER AND GET SOME WORK DONE TO ENSURE THAT THERE ARE NO BIASED PEOPLE.

In ancient times the girls were not very strong to stand against what is wrong they were not available to stand against child marriage, no education to girls and many more.
Now days- Also their are many villages where child marriage, no education and many more that is why our government is trying to put both girls and boys equal and now girls are also fighting for their right from these pointless rituals. This a major difference from old to new INDIA which makes me proud saying I am an Indian.
