First Punic War

This war was the first one between Rome and carthage. This first punic war was made to take control of sicily. Carthage was the one that declared the war and it was fought on the river. Altough there are many reasons of why they started the war the most credible one is that there was a fight for the economics wealth of each country with the mediterranean routes of commerce. This first war between rome and Carthage lasted 23 years and ended with the defeat of Carthage, making Carthage loose the control over Sicily. In this three punic wars both Rome and Carthage celebrated victories and suffer defeatings.

Second Punic War

In this war two very important characters are involved. Hardrusbal and Hannibal from Carthage and Scipio from Rome. Hadrusbal was the son of a killed militar called Hamilcar, hasdrusbal wanted to change violence for words, he wanted to have a diplomatic conflict instead of a military conflict but he was assasinated so the leadership passed to Hannibal. Hannibal was a great militar with an incredible mind. He looked up for defeating rome and so led Carthage army and the elephants in this second war. However he didnt accomplish his purpose because Rome had a great army with a great organization (legions) and great militaries. All who owned land had to serve for romes military. And so this guy called Scipio managed to defeat Hannibal, and made Rome to win for the second time the war leaving Carthage with 2 defeats and the loose of the Spanish Empire.

Interbellum

During this time Rome and Carthage worked on the recuperation and changes on their army, and reconstruction of what was damaged on the city. Because altought Carthage was defeated on both first and second wars, both Rome and Carthage suffer damage on their army and land. This time between wars helped both cities to be prepared for the third punic war that would take place.
