This source states that the moral argument is that criminals that take away the lives of others have forfeit the right to live. It goes on to talk about how the death penalty allows for there to be less of a threat of the criminal committing the same crime again. For the practical argument it mentions that they strongly attempt to make sure that the criminal is being executed for a valid reason. Finally, the source states that it has been custom since the 15th century and before.

MLA:"Capital punishment." Britannica School, Encyclopædia Britannica, 25 Mar. 2021. school.eb.com/levels/high/article/capital-punishment/20149.

The first pro this source mentions about the death penalty is that it helps lower the crime rate which was shown through statistics. Another pro is that it is given to those who truly deserve it which means it depends on how bad the crime is. Furthermore, it allows closure to people who lost family members to these criminals. A final pro is that many Americans support the death penalty which means its in the favor of the people.
MLA: “Top 10 Pro & Con Arguments - Death Penalty - ProCon.org.” Death Penalty, 18 Feb. 2020, deathpenalty.procon.org/top-10-pro-con-arguments/.

One argument made in this source is that death penalty defers people from committing serious crimes of the fear they might be executed. Another argument is the argument of retribution, that all people who do wrong deserve to be punished based on how server the crime is. Furthermore, it helps the belief that what you do to others can come back to you. The final important argument is it allows for families to receive justice for their lost ones and have the closure they deserve.
MLA: “Ethics - Capital Punishment: Arguments in Favour of Capital Punishment.” BBC, BBC, www.bbc.co.uk/ethics/capitalpunishment/for_1.shtml.

The death penalty is necessary because it allows people to pay for the terrible crimes they have dome to others. It also helps grieving families to know that the person who took someone they love from them can't do it again to others. Furthermore, this can put fear for future criminals to deter from committing the same crimes because they will be aware of the consequences. Americans support it because it helps the US. in many ways and contains many pros.
