         <description><![CDATA[<div>Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union vs the Republic of Poland<br><br>A defensive war where Nazi Germany invades Poland to which the Soviet Union soon followed.&nbsp; German forces break through the border of Poland and Warsaw was quickly seized due to the lack of time they were able to prepare for the invasion as well as the fact that Germany was swift in the morning.<br><br>This event starts WWII and Germany gains half of Poland.</div>]]></description>

The entire campaign was fought only by air forces and proved Britain's resiliency.&nbsp;<br><br>It allowed Britain to remain free of Nazi occupation and enabled the United States to establish a base of operations to invade Normandy.</div>]]></description>

Just before 8 am, Japan planned a surprised strike the naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii which ended up killing around 2,403 Americans and 1,143 ended up wounded.  <br><br>This action only caused the United States to enter WWII.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

It was a defense effort on the United States' side to keep a major base on Midway Island safe. 320 Japanese planes and 150 U.S planes were casualties in the campaign.&nbsp;<br><br>Japan's hope of neutralizing the U.S Navy at Midway Island was a failure and American Forces ended up winning. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Imperial Japan vs the United States<br><br>A war fought on the island of Okinawa and was a major battle that would allow the United States to have a base to invade Japan. During this battle, Japan would launch their Kamikaze and around 40% of the U.S were dead sailors that were victim to these attacks.&nbsp; 12,000 dead and 49,000 more casualties.&nbsp;<br><br>The United States won the Battle of Okinawa and was able to set up military bases for bombers that could strike Japan. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Japan vs United States<br><br>Two atomic bombs were released onto the two cities of Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In hopes of bringing the war to a quick end, General Dwight Eisenhower and Henry Stimson decided to drop these two bombs to avoid high casualty rates. In the end, 220,000+ people were killed.<br><br>This event ended up contributing the the end of WWII in exchange for the many innocent lives of civilians. </div>]]></description>

On Germany's side, it was a two-front war as German forces were still being pushed away from Russia after the battle of Stalingrad.<br><br>It was a massive turning point as Hitler was no longer able to send troops from France to go against the Soviets and turned the tide against the Nazis.<br><br></div>]]></description>

It was a bloody battle as there was now a much better way to fire from longer ranges and around 2 million people were killed during the fight.&nbsp;<br><br>It caused the German army to weaken and was the first time Hitler admitted military defeat. After the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they had to accept surrender.<br><br>The war is officially over with many losses accounted for. Although the bombs did aid in ending the war faster, there were too many casualties.</div>]]></description>
