When coming to Brazil, you need to prepare yourself to receive hugs, cheek/air kisses, rough and honest comments and will must likely have a hard time understanding when to arrive and when to leave a party. Brazilians are often perceived as friendly people, so when foreigners come to Brazil, they have a huge cultural shock when they get hugged and kissed, so this is a small list of things you should know before coming to Brazil. You need to prepare yourself for the so called ''air kisses'', it's basically when you only touch your cheek with the other person's cheek, not an actual ''cheek kiss'', these are very common in Brazil, as well as hugs. You also need to prepare yourself to always be late, yes, when brazilians are invaded to a party and the host asks them to get there at 17:00 for example, they'll get there at 18:00, so always be at least 30min late for informal events, when going to a formal event (doctors appointment, business meeting...) always be on point. You might as well receive some rough comments from people, but don't take it as a bad thing, brazilians are some times very honest and straightforward about their opinions. These are some tips on how to have a good time in Brazil!

Rafaela, Maria Victoria, Maria Fernanda (2°E)

When coming to Brazil you should keep in mind that the way we greet each other is different. Generally, when we want to greet someone we touch cheeks and make a kissing sound, the amount of times we do it can differ depending on the state.

Also, another thing you should keep in mind is the way we deal with times in events. The time we give to people to come to an event is usually just a general idea, because people will usually arrive later then the time given to them.

Also, if someone invites you somewhere, be aware about the time you will be there, don't be exactly on time, but also don't be too late, if you are going to be late, warn the host!!
