Fried is about a fried chicken fast food restaurant in Croydon, run by disorganised and rather vile employees. Mary, the manager, is tasked with the job to improve the restaurants reputation for being the poorest fired chicken restaurant in London. Each of these characters have to overcome many obstacles on the way; Joe confessing his love for Amara, and Derek achieving the role as manager and over throwing Mary. Fried is a British comedy featuring an outstanding sense of humour that appeals to all audiences.

Derek is the deputy manager of the fast food restaurant. In this spectacularly funny episode Derek tries to relive his life as a youth, when he used to perform in a band. In his journey to reliving his youth he recruits a young homeless bus boy as his guitarist. Derek is a middle aged, white, male. In the eyes of an ISA member, Derek is the most dominant character. However in this Tv drama, Derek is represented as a creep "Dereks creep jar", very promiscuous, envious of youth and he sits in a management position beneath Mary (a woman). The way in which Derek is represented in Fried completely challenges the ideologies enforced by moral entrepreneurs because in many ways he is the least powerful character. Derek is also demonised throughout this program, which also refers to Althussers theory on how the Moral entrepreneurs create representation in order to demonise folk devil.

Mary is the Senior manager of the fried chicken restaurant. Throughout this episode Mary feels lonely because of the recent break up with her ex husband. Mary tries her luck with an customer. After being told that the customer had died from the chicken nugget Mary sold him, she protests against the company, driving herself mad. Mary is represented as gullible, stupid, promiscuous and lonely. Mary seems to be more in conflict with her fellow adult employees rather than the youth employees. This is a complete juxtaposition from the previous case studies we have explored. It seems as though in this TV Drama the conflict between the adults and youth are challenged as we don't actually see them interact with each other. However, that said, the fact that they don't interact with each other also means that these two groups are separated. Its as if, no matter what, youth and adults will never get along even if there isn't any conflict.

Ed is the restaurant Mascot. In this episode Ed finds an old, mouldy chicken nugget underneath the cooker. Upon examination Ed realises that the burnings on the nugget appear to mimic the image of Jesus. Ed believes that this chicken nugget is his ticket to riches if he was to sell it. Ed is represented as stupid, very promiscuous, lazy, immature and in conflict with old people. Ed is the most stereotypical character to represent youth. This is of course if we were to see it from the point of view from the ISA.

Amara is an youth employee at the 'seriously fried chicken' restaurant. in this episode, she finds herself falling for an homeless bus boy that plays music outside the shop window. Amara invites this young boy to play in Derek's new band. Amara is represented as promiscuous, rebellious against her father, lazy but quite powerful; this is because both Joe and the bus boy fancy her and she has the power to string them both along (Joe would do anything for her).

To me this shows that they do not take their job seriously and they do not care about the reputation of the company. They are lazy on the job if they can't even be bothered to wear the full uniform.

Behaviour-
Judging on their behaviour i get the impression that they carry themselves with low energy apart from Ed.

Adults in this series include colleges and managers. They all interact with each other and strangely enough that are all in conflict with each other "ill put you at a f*cking angle".

The adults are represented as more powerful and higher than the youth because all managers are adults and they are in charge of the other employees.

The adults are too represented as promiscuous; "I used to always be onto of Garith, we used to do role play. Id be the kidnapper onto and he'd be the kidnap victim, just lying there silently underneath, as i the didn't want to be there".

Overall i think that this TV Drama challenges the representation of the dominant collective group; The adult Derek is represented as being envious of youth. When he speaks to the young employees he mentions that he used to be in a band when he was a youth "that cool enough for you". Its as if he is trying to impress the youngers, to show that he is "on trend" (getting their approval). The only person in this series that is of the dominant ideology is Derek, yet he is the least respected and powerful person; He is in a management position below a women and he is envious of youth. This Tv show seems to challenge social conventions in the most realistic way possible, personally.
