One connection I made to my own teaching this week is with reflection. I have quick ways of reflecting after lessons and that usually involves sticky notes. I take my pad of notes and leave myself messages in my teacher’s manual for next year. It has worked well for me overall, however I would like to get back to more overall reflections of the bigger picture. Weekly reflections of the classroom and my teaching overall are important for growth, not just within the curriculum.

I am on information overload but in a good way. Information overload is a way the brain has to organize and sort out information to learn it. So I have taken some good points from the text. I know time management is key to being a learner and also being compassionate. If I don't get the weight of all my crap off my shoulders I will not be in the moment, or read to understand new ideas, or be compassionate to my own children and the children in my classroom. I like to be creative and play, but have been stuck on getting things done an not making structural changes in my life. The biggest take away is take care of yourself, and the rest of the school year is how you respond. Responding positively or negatively is based on your own resilience which starts with self care.
