I ever really used to be a fan of blogging, mostly because I thought it was just a big chat room and I also didn't think they were safe for kids. Exploring it more now in depth, I see how they can actually be quite informative and helpful for students, and they have extremely good safety features that makes its perfect for students. I wouldn't necessarily do this with any class, I would consider maybe 4th or 5th grade. I would want mystudents to become creative and express their own ideas and personal interests and share it openly it's their peers. This could be good for reflective writing. Setting up the blog was so easy and now further exploring it has made me interested in seeing how my fellow classmates creat their own.

While I was playing around with the different tools for this weeks online class, I found this storyboard link and it was so much fun. Technology is a great way that can help writers express themselves in different ways. This particular website also allows writers to write and create their own illustrations and designs. There is captioning and dialogue and settings, which are all important aspects to a story line. I feel as if I could use this with my fifth graders for a writing activity. This is the concept map that I created using this storyboard website. I also found kidspiration to be so awesome. I love the easy to use main menu and the different subjects all aligned with common core. I could see myself using this for the book my class is currently reading, which is Wonder. They could create their own graphic organizers and be creative and fun with it. I related this with the assigned reading because it was about a study that was being conducted on concept mapping and the benefits it holds for young writers. I do think it could be beneficial for youngsters to use online mapping and writing, but not more than pen to paper fast writing. Both are beneficial and crucial to young minds. But these websites and tools are excellent ways to engage students in writing and open their minds up to creativeness.
