      <description>Goal: To make my third graders active thinkers through three different content areas. 
Through these content areas, I want my students to understand the effects and relevance of bullying. 
I chose this topic based off of personal experience. At that age, I noticed my own peers experience bullying for the first time. 
This topic continues to be prevalent in school communities and can easily be addressed in a classroom setting. 
My students will explore this topic through purposeful literacy in math, language arts, and the fine arts. My third graders will engage in reading, writing, and speaking. </description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Analyzing Data:<br>Students will take an anonymous survey that asks multiple choice questions about their personal experience with bullying. The questions will be:  <br><br></div><ul><li>"Have you ever been bullied?"</li><li>"Have you ever been a bully yourself?"</li><li>"Have you ever seen a friend or peer be bullied?"         </li></ul><div><br>The anonymous survey results will be given to students to graph as a class. They will also graph the anonymous survey results of another class, of the same size and school. Students will then participate in a discussion about any noticeable trends that appear in the two graphs. Bullying statistics (similar to their survey questions) will then be shared with the students. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Story Sharing &amp; Response:<br>Students will be broken up into groups of 3. Each group will be given a story about bullying to read. After reading the story, groups will create short summaries of their stories to share with the other groups. After they share their summary, they will pose a discussion question for the other students to respond to. Each student will individually  respond to the question in their personal writing notebooks. Each group will get a chance to share their summary and ask their question. </div>]]></description>
