For each component, I carefully selected a genre that best strengthened my argument and appealed to my audience. Regarding the visual component, I chose the meme genre. This genre lets me appeal to logos by delivering the logic and data that support my argument in a simple and concise manner. Since multiple components require an appeal to logos, I thought this genre helped present and support my argument in an approachable and less formal way, making it easier for the audience to understand and share with others. I chose the TED Talk genre when creating my video component, as it allows me to reiterate my argument and the important evidence and ideas surrounding it. The genre also helps appeal to pathos because it allows me to clearly express the emotional aspects and tone of this issue throughout my delivery of the speech. The speech also facilitates a further appeal to pathos by subtly allowing me to share my own personal connection to and perspectives regarding the issue. A TED Talk also helps me appeal to ethos by presenting myself as a knowledgeable and expert figure on the topic, which bolsters my credibility and appeals to the audience. This genre also gives me the space to fully present my argument and address a fairly open-minded audience without being interrupted or objected to. 

I chose the essay genre when creating my written component because I felt it enabled me to best present my argument and appeal to ethos and logos. This genre helped me appeal to logos since it utilizes credible academic sources and logical reasoning. It also provides me with the space to fully develop and support my argument, which further helps me appeal to logos while strengthening and supporting my argument. My essay appeals to ethos by using scholarly research to support my argument and including my own experiences and education. As a result, this makes both my argument and myself more appealing and credible to the audience.
