I learned through beginner lessons at a local community center and short YouTube videos (under 4 minutes, like REI's "Beginner Kayaking Tips"), practicing basics like paddling and safety over weekends.

On QSS Day, I kayaked to collect floating trash from shallow waters during a community event, serving the environment and making onshore kids smile with my hauls—they got excited and asked how to join, highlighting community unity.

I learned from my mum in our kitchen. She showed me ingredients like seasoned rice, spinach, carrots, eggs, pickled radish, and fillings like beef or tuna. She taught stir-frying veggies, marinating fillings, and rolling with a bamboo mat. I practised layering on nori, seasoning, and slicing until I got it right without falling apart.

(edited again) I made gimbap for my family's Sunday dinner, reminding me of my VIA activity on cultural sharing. My mum cooked the ingredients perfectly, while I assembled and cut the rolls carefully. It was yummy, sparked talks about Korea, and made us all smile and feel closer despite being busy.

I googled for short YouTube videos (under 4 minutes, like "Basic Vietnamese Phrases" from Learn Vietnamese with Annie), to learn basic greetings, questions, and daily words.

On the TIE trip, I used my new phrases to communicate with the local children during our exchange, like asking about their games or sharing simple stories; it served by building friendships across cultures and made them smile with my efforts to speak their language, creating joyful moments of connection despite our differences.

I ate prata and briyani with my friend from thailand and we catched up over the weekend . I learnt more about her lifestyle in thailand and it made me realise i missed it more than i thought. I wish to see her again as she has went back to thailand but nevertheless, we spent a good weekend together including HBL day.
