The SSA is still around today and has been in effect for about eighty-three years.
The reason the program was created was to grant money to people who had no way of making money for themselves. The reason it is still around today is because there are still people in the U.S. who need money because they cannot go out and get a job because there is something in their way of earning money for themselves.

What makes the SSA unique is that before it was created, people who had retired and could not work anymore, basically were broke and had no hope because there was no flow of money coming into their bank account. But after the SSA was created those people could continue to live the way they wanted and had the money to do what they wanted with themselves.

The impact this program had on the population of poor older people was greatly changed. Since 1940 the life expectancy of reaching age 65 has risen from 14 more years to 21 more years on average. Saying that this act has lengthened the years someone was expected to live. So basically this program is saving lives
