Many of the vendor data sheets give the failure rates (safe and dangerous) in failure in time units (i.e. number of failures per 1 billion hours). The ISA equations for calculating PFDAvg etc. we've been told to use the values in the units of 'per year'. Are we allowed to make the assumption that the FIT value can be converted to a per year value (through whatever conversion is needed) and then applying this value into the equations?

Are we able to insert our LOPA summaries as figures? Currently if we insert as tables this significantly increases wordcount. Just conscious as later in the assignment questions require much more word intensive responses. Do equations used also count towards word count? Thanks!

Really struggling to find response time of the devices - can you advise on what to do as this forms part of the calculations. Thanks
