Our students are primarily international (LMICs) and struggle to engage with discussion boards - difficult to access via smart phone/fear of posting something wrong/focus on assessment + marks rather than process. Whatsapp is the default for communication within the community of learners but many issues with this. This gives purpose to the interactions.
