My eyelids feel heavy, my brain asked for oxygen but I have none left to give. I fell to my knees the hot coals burning my skin. I went to scream but nothing came out. My face hit the floor and my body went limp, my eyes closed and welcomed the cool darkness that I became. I can see the flames as they shoot out of my brother's window. I can't wait any longer, I see their ships turn to make a second run. I turn towards the woods as the wind from my falling house knocks me to the floor. I scramble to my feet and take off. The dusty dirt starts to turn to roots and dark soil as I turn and take one last look at the place were my house once stood, but all I see is a pile of burning rubble. I turn and say a pray for my brother in the hopes that he made it out. I cross into the trees as gunshots erupt from every direction. It has been three weeks since they landed on earth. They took control in a matter of days. Those who didn't die in the first landing hid in these remote shelters like mine. Each day we hear about more and more shelters that were found and destroyed.
