Group projects, stations, students are asking questions, and come for help when needed. To me, this shows me that they are engaged in the topic at hand.

They are asking questions about the topic we are on. They are following along in their readers or workbooks. Groups discussions are on the topic that we are working on.

Observable markers are completing assignments, following classroom rules, and participating in class discussion. Being able to paraphrase or summarize the information given to them. I can tell if my class is engaged by circulating throughout the classroom, randomizing whom I call upon for class participation, and engaging with my students. The type of questioning I get from the students will also gauge their engagement.

I would like to know more about the 3D Model. Self evaluate, peer evaluate, teacher evaluate, rubrics.

Quiet kids does not necessarily mean engaged kids. The use of rubrics is important for students to monitor engagement themselves.
