Find a well-working editing software. Some free software’s include: Audacity and Reaper.
Find both the instrumental and the acapella versions for both songs.
Match the beats per minute of both songs.
Match the keys on the tracks. Use the guide Camelot Wheel to see keys that will match.

My favorite Mash-up

For my favourite mashup I picked The less the better x Circles. They are mashing up the instrumental of the less the better and the accapella vocals of circles. I chose this because I love the song the less the better and I think it a was really seamless transition into the vocals it sounded even better!

My 2nd Favourite Mash-up

My second favourite mash-up was Hey Soul Sister x Fireflies. The reason why I chose this one was because they mixed the vocals it wasn’t just instrumental and acapella which I thought was very unique. They cut certain parts of each song and together they sounded really nice. For all of th see reasons I picked this mash-up.

My Favourite Medley

My favourite medley is Pentatonix- 90s Dance Medley. I really liked how since it was a certain era of music (90s) a lot of the songs went really well one after the other. It really made me realize how alike a lot of these iconic songs are. Therefore I decided that this medley was my favourite.

My second favourite medley is actually another Pentatonix medley which is Evolution of music. Seeing the smooth transitions between such a wide variety of style throughout decades was extremely interesting. That is why I picked the Evolution of Music as my second favourite medley.

Differences Between Medleys/Mashups

•Usually mashups will overlap songs whereas in medleys the songs are one after the other.

•When making mashups usually you would try to find the instrumental and acapella versions of songs whereas you wouldn’t need to usually for medleys.

•Medleys can be different parts of the same song whereas mashups can’t be the same song.

•Medleys can often have multiple songs one after the other whereas mashups squally only have 2 songs.

•Changing the key signature is common in mashups. I knew that changing the key and tempo but changing the key signature was interesting!
