Hinduism emerged around 2000 B.C.E in India which many people consider to be the oldest religion known to man. Hinduism unlike other religions cannot be raced back to one person or one founder with a single set of ideas. For example there are many gods that the religion has that formed over time which makes the religion a Polytheistic religion, they have about 33 million gods. Over 2,500 years Hinduism has gone through many changes, over centuries and time periods like the importance of some gods and rules of the religion. For example one of their gods "Brahman", was sometimes seen having the personalities of three other gods but sometimes during some centuries or time periods, the was only seen as this one god, the world soul.

Hinduism is Polytheistic religion, meaning they have more then one god. Unlike other religions they didn't have a founder, meaning it grew over many centuries. In total Hinduism consists of 33 million Gods. The earliest text they had was called the Vedas, which consists of hymn, prayers, rituals, and poems. Hinduism believed in reincarnation, the belief that you will be reborn into a class based on your karma (pure actions can reborn you into a higher positions in the caste system). So if you were born into a lower class, it means that you were a bad person in your past-life, which they thought you deserved to be there.

The Caste system is the expression of Karma/Dharma.
Basically if you did something wrong or disobeyed something, you'd have bad karma. Dharma is the action of getting bad karma to good Karma. Getting rid of bad karma is basically obeying. You do what you have to do and listen and your karma will be better within your next. Basically the higher your good karma, the closer you are to heaven/god in your death/next life.

Hinduism did not spread far from India. One reason for this is because they did not try to convert people into Hinduism. From the time it began till now about 90% of India's population practices Hinduism and is mainly only practiced here but has reached places like the United States, East Africa, The U.k, New Zealand, etc and more modern day places. Other than some places having access to knowing what the religion is, they don't try to spread or tell people to convert at all.

In Hindu meditation, they would take all the vowels in the alphabet (aeiou), which they believe to be the sound the universe made during the big bang.
Also they used this symbol to represent that:

Also, Hinduism had a symbol known as the swastika. This symbol represented the Brahman, and his energy, Shakti, moving in the four directions of the world.
