Hinduism unlike other religions cannot be raced back to one person or one founder with a single set of ideas. The earliest text they had was called the Vedas, which consists of hymn, prayers, rituals, and poems. Hinduism believed in reincarnation, the belief that you will be reborn into a class based on your karma (pure actions can reborn you into a higher positions in the caste system). Basically if you did something wrong or disobeyed something, you'd have bad karma. Dharma is the action of getting bad karma to good Karma. Getting rid of bad karma is basically obeying. You do what you have to do and listen and your karma will be better within your next. One reason for this is because they did not try to convert people into Hinduism.
