In my nature walk, I have noticed all the three languages. I heard the wind sound blowing across pushing the trees sideways. I have noticed the movement in the trees with the wind. Trees were dancing to the tunes of the wind. I have also noticed drama created by the light when I see up in the sky it was bright light i thought it was a star but it was a fairy. Fairy was guiding me all through my journey giving me company in the dark which gave me confidence to walk in the dark.

Sensations through my nature walk:

I have experienced different sense through my nature walk, I breathe deeply and smell the freshness and scents carried by the wind. The coarseness of soil and mud. I could hear the gusty wind and rustling leaves. I also noticed different colors and shapes of leaves. I have also noticed the movements of the tree with wind. I have also noticed the shadow of the tree dancing to the rhythmic sound of the wind. I felt the different textures of the leaves rough, smooth, wet and dry. I also felt the roughness of the tree bark.

Feelings about nature walk:

On my country visit walk, I feel the peace in the nature walk which gives me feeling of happiness and it gives me a smile on my face. Nature walks make me feel refreshed, improves my mood, relaxes my body and helps to boosts my self-esteem. Walking in the woods gives me the ability to focus and concentrate.

Thoughts and overall experience:

Overall, this experience made me feel the nature walk enhances the creativity and imagination of your thoughts. When the wind was blowing, it enhanced my belief about providing a optimistic way to constraint the challenges. In my childhood, I used to spend my time outdoors exploring nature, dirt and water. I used to collect the leaves, twigs, sticks from the ground and used these natural items in my cooking.

Explanation and interpretation of artefact:

Children engage in nature and express their feelings and emotions through observation, listening to different sounds in nature. As Wooten (2013) emphasizes music comes naturally to children through rich interaction with the environment. It is vital in early childhood setting; educators allow children to have freedom of expression from the quote of” learning to play music not an instrument”. There are no strict rules about learning music.

In my teaching practice, I would encourage children to explore nature and listen to different sounds which enables children to explore and interact with their environment to make their own discoveries.

In my nature walk, I also experience “Daddiri”. I want to connect my nature walk experience to inner, deep listening and quiet still awareness. Through my nature walk I find peace and listen to the sound created by the wind which enhances my deep spring inside me. (Mirriamrosefoundation,2017).

When I hear swishing trees, which makes me feel happy and move freely in my life. When I notice trees dancing to the tunes of the wind, makes me feel more relaxed and dance to express my emotions. In my nature walk, When I looked up, I notice a bright shining light, I thought it was light, but it was a fairy. The fairy accompanied me all through my journey. I would like to connect to the Mutton bird dance form, they express their feelings and emotions through the dance form. The body movements created a drama through story telling. In my teaching practice, I would encourage children to play and explore in natural settings which gives them the chance to enhance their pretend play skills and enhance their dramatic expression through exploration.

In my nature walk, I would like to connect to parallaxis through simply exploring the nature walk explore different things and you already start to imagine. Through parallaxis make me think deeper and exploring the “bridge between what is and what if (stevens 2013)”.

In my teaching practice, I would like to encourage children to bush kinder opportunities, where children explore with no rules and boundaries and ability to create and amend things with their imagination and creativity.

Overall reflection might inform future practice in early childhood setting:

During this experience, I have broadened my knowledge about how to enhance children’s knowledge about exploring natural settings. Children are born curious and confident learners. An an early childhood teacher, I encourage children to explore the natural setting and create new discoveries and their inventions. Creating opportunities for children by organizing different activities outdoors like by collecting natural materials to do pasting activity, which gives them chance to explore their senses. Children learn through exploring the seasons, summer, rainy and windy. When the wind blows across, they observe trees dancing which gives them opportunity to observe the movement in trees. Playing different music outdoors for children to express their emotions. Children enhance dramatic expression through pretend play skills. Encouraging children to engage with different open-ended materials outdoors like pine cones, leaves, sticks ,twigs and rocks enhances their outdoor experience and benefits children’s development physically, socially and emotionally.
