The Platform Wound Dressing (PWD) is the first negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device that doesn't use gauze or foam. The PWD has a adhesive rim and forms a 'suction cup' to the wound when hooked up to negative pressure. The device is transparent and has a 3D design. The 3D design allows negative pressure along with air and fluid to be able to move throughout the wound.
(Medgadget, 2019)

I believe this is a great innovation that will replace wound vacs that require gauze and foam. Since this is fairly new, there was only one research article and it was related to burns. I would like to see more research and content on the different sizes and how it compares to what is being used today.
