Pupils can create either a piece of artwork or a piece of poetry illustrating their empathy with or experience of being separated from the place they call home. These creations will be judged by a fantastic panel of celebrities, refugees, and journalists with the top 30 entries going on display in The British Library during National Refugee Week (16th–22nd June 2025). They will also be featured in a special national online assembly, in the press and elsewhere. The prize ceremony will be at the British Library on World Refugee Day (Friday 20th June 2025).

The Christian value of Trust can be seen in many aspects of school life, both inside and outside the classroom. Here are some examples of where Trust can be found:

In School - Pupils trust their teachers to guide them, provide them with knowledge and help them when they need support. Teachers, in turn, trust their students to put in effort and work hard to succeed.

Peer Relationships - Friends trust each other to be kind, honest and supportive. They trust that their peers will listen to them and keep their confidence when they share personal thoughts or feelings.

Our focus in Collective Worship this week has been looking at the Christian Value: Hope. Our theme this week has been about Changing the World. Our Worships this week have been looking at the Big Picture News Question: What every day items could be changed to help others?

This has struck up lots of discussion in Collective Worship and in the classroom around using our creativity to help others, living out the message of the Gospel — bringing good news and hope to the world through our actions..

Ask your children the following questions: How do you feel when someone does or makes something just to help you? Can you think of something you use every day that helps you? What could make it even better? If you could invent something to help people, what would it be? #LetYourLightShine💡

What a wonderful week it has been! The sunshine has certainly lifted everyone’s spirits and it’s been lovely to see the children enjoying their learning and making the most of the beautiful weather during playtimes and outdoor activities.

A special well done must go to our fantastic Year 6 children, who have shown incredible focus, determination and resilience during their SATs this week. We are all so proud of how hard they have worked and the mature attitude they have shown throughout. You’ve done yourselves proud – well done!
