They try to meet another's sound,
To feel a pulse that's shared, unbound.
But often fail, they miss the cue,
Though always reaching to break through.

At times they swell and start to fly,
My body's full, I don’t know why.
Like a balloon, I float up high,
Still rising softly to the sky.

Nothing that can capture a certain place

It’s a feeling inside, deep down

That without the you in me I’d drown

Within me there is a desire

The search against this burning fire

Of loneliness - in a busy world

Of being lost - without a word

Within me there is the you

A loving hand reaching out for true

Connection - the  bond that we might share

Feeling each other, taking care

I thank for those who are reaching out

I thank for those who are being loud

Against all odds, against the fear

Cause without you I wouldn’t be here

touching as a way of showing love and care.

But even though we’re all born with a body and it’s always there, I’ve often felt disconnected from mine, like we assume it’s just there, but we don’t really relate to it. When I’m not in touch with my body, it’s like my head starts going in loops and I disconnect.

I don’t think of the body as just something physical, it’s also how I hold emotions, how I express desire and how I show up in the world.

I’m sharing a poem I love. It talks about the body, but also about movement, curves, and about not being static. About how life flows in spirals, not straight lines.

Here’s a fragment of “Las personas curvas” (“Curved People”) by Jesús Lizano:

My mother used to say: I like straight people.
I like curved people,
curved ideas,
curved paths,
because the world is curved,
and the Earth is curved,
and movement is curved;
and I like curves,
and curved breasts,
and curved asses,
curved feelings;
intoxication: it’s curved;
curved words:
love is curved;
the belly is curved!
diversity is curved.
