Are there any symbols? What do they mean? Are they universal symbols or do they arise from the context of this poem?

The symbol of "This is My Letter to the World" is the letter. The letter that Emily Dickinson wrote addresses the World that can resemble the universe. "The simple news that Nature told...her message is committed" (4-6). Dickinson tells her readers that there will always be an end to everything. People will eventually die, so she is warning the world to live their lives before it ends.

What figures of speech are used? How do they contribute to the tone and meaning of the poem?

The speaker tries to reach out to the world to search for a sense of belonging. Emily was a quiet person with a private life. Many of her poems were never published, and she wrote over 1800 of them. "My letter to the world" is a metaphor for her experience because she is lonely and misunderstood. Dickinson never received letters in her lifetime, so she is referring to the way that she wants people to know what she was trying to convey.

Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst Massachusetts. Growing up, Dickinson did not like going away from home; she would often stay coped up inside. When she was outside, she would be found with a white dress which usually shows purity, but Dickinson believed it showed passion and intensity. She was strongly intelligent living a quiet and abrupt life. She often wrote poems when she was at home, where she wrote 1800 poems, and only 10 of them were published. Many of her poems were sent out to her friends, but she kept the majority of them to herself. When Dickinson wrote, she had sudden thoughts of death in the way that she wrote. She later died on May 15, 1886 in Amherst Massachusetts. Dickinson has influenced the world from her poetry by the creative and outside of the box thinking of her writing styles.

The central idea of "This is my letter to the World" by Emily Dickinson is about communication She wants to send the world a message, even though, " [it) never wrote to me" (Dickinson, 2). Everything Happens for a reason. This sentence describes how Dickinson communicates with the world that everything will eventually die "Her message is committed "(Dickinson.5).
