Laura: I have been really adaptable this week because we had to stop at the gas station to fix the bus air con and it was really hot. I think I adapted to this by staying positive. I have also been resilient because the circus was really tiring when we had to do the stretches but I kept trying and didn't give up!

Dong Won: I think that I have been working on being resilient because I was trying my best even though I have been sick this week. Also, I have worked on my cooperation because my team members have been really friendly and we always share everything.

Supicha: I think I have been adaptable because at the gas station party it was really hot but I adapted to the temperature. Not just that, I think I have also adapted to being away from my family for 4 nights and 5 days. I have missed them though!

Pisey: I think I have been adaptable to my surroundings here and it was great to see a forest that had been protected with so many trees and little harm done to it. I have also been resilient when break dancing because it is new to me but it gave me a new experience and I really enjoyed trying it!

Suni: This week I have been working on being resilience and adaptability. We have had to cope with all of the changes, such as the bus problems, but we made it so fun in the end and always made the best of the experience! I have been really happy with all of my friends because this an experience that I really want to enjoy and will always remember.

Tara: I have been adaptable because we had to try types of food and we had to do new things. I have also been resilient because we had to wait for the bus a few times and we stayed happy with our amazing dancing!

Prawsoeu: This week I have resilient because during the temple challenge, even though we couldn't find the right spot, we kept looking! At the circus I tried my best to follow what the teacher said to do. I really enjoyed riding the bamboo train as it was a really fun experience!

Javi: On the trampolines I was using my communication personal goal to explain what to do. I tried my best to juggle but I found it difficult but I asked for help and got better and better. This means that I have also been resilient!

Erik: I have been adaptable and shown good communication skills. With communication I have had to communicate with my team to ensure our room is tidy, to make sure that we are being sensible and when buying food. I have had to adapt to being without my parents for the whole week. It has been great fun though and I have had a great week!

Chhiv Leap: I have been adaptable because I adapted to new hotels and a new group. I have also been resilient because I tried to remember the rhythm of the instruments. I really enjoyed when we went to the temples because I was able to see more of Siem Reap and to know that there is more than one temple there. It was fascinating learning about the different shapes of the buildings.

Gabriella: I have shown resilience when the bus needed fixed and we had to wait for a new one to come. I have shown adaptability because I have been away from my mum for a week and just with my friends. My favourite thing was definitely the bamboo train!

Sophie: I think I have shown resilience when we had to change buses, we also had to be adaptable with this. I cooperated well with my team at the temple. I have also communicated well with my team when we were tidying up the rooms. My favourite bit was the petrol station party!

Rebecca: I have been adaptable because I haven't been playing with the usual people and I have joined a new group and made new friends. I have also been resilient because I kept on trying when I was break dancing, even though I couldn't get the correct moves! In the end I got them!

Nicole: I think i have been adaptable, especially when doing things i have never done before. Also, i had to be resilient. I couldn't just say, no i can't do it - you just have to keep going or it won't be fun. I also have cooperated with my team to get points. Sometimes we feel like even though we might not be winning, we can always do better next time. My favourite moment of the week was challenges with my team... and eating ice-cream

Lyann: I think i have worked on my adaptability; we had to wait for the bus and i stayed positive and adapted to the new habitat!! I am really enjoying the circus - i am learning to be confident with tumble turns and flips. I got better already - kind of!

Rapin: I have been resilient this week. I'm not used to hot weather and when we have been outside for a while i have to make sure i keep out of the sun and keep my spirits up! When breakdancing, i tried my best and really concentrated - i didn't lose focus on what i was doing.

Vattana: I have been resilient because at the circus on the trampoline i had to jump/sit down and i kept on falling but i kept going and got it in the end! I have been adaptable when we dealt with the bus problems but it was fun!

Saku: I think i have been a risk taker because i have never eaten crickets and spiders and it was the first time a spider crawled over me... it was a risk but it was fun. Also, at the circus i was also a risk taker as we did so many different skills. On the trampoline it was scary because i could have fallen but i didnt!

Haimanot: Ive really been working on my resilience and adaptability skills because I was resilient in not giving up when we were waiting for the bus and i was adaptable to our change of plans. Even though i was a bit sad, we coped. (we still got to swim) I didn't realise what big jumps i could do with the breakdancing. 

It was hard for me get over my fear - i am scared of boats - it took a lot not to cry but Ms Michaela said she didnt even know I was scared and in the end it was really fun!

Ahrya: So i think this week i have worked on cooperation - i have worked in my team and cooperated. I tried to be resilient. When we were breakdancing, at first i wasn't resilient but when i paid more attention and tried harder i did much better. In the temple at first i though we didnt have that much chance of winning but as we slowly got faster and we were beating everyone else i had that feeling that we were going to win and we tried much harder than when we first started. We did pretty good in the end!

Visal: I believe that i have been respectful and principled the most during these past few days because i like being who i am.. keeping everything tidy, being polite, being positive during breakdancing, and doing what any other good person would do!

Galeno: I think i have been adaptable this week because we had a few difficulties with the bus BUT we coped with it and it turned that time into a fun time and Mr David said that we were doing a good job. We also lost a lot of things (!!) but we found them in the end. I've also been respectful by helping my friends look forward and helping them when they need help, especially when Dong Won was sick. We helped him stay positive.

Colin: I have worked on being respectful a lot. I haven't been shouting and in my room, when Mr Dam was sleeping i made sure everyone else was quiet. I think i have been adaptable a lot. I didnt like the boat trip, to be honest, but i tried to stay awake and see the positives in it. When we were waiting for the bus we also stayed positive. Instead of thinking about it being hot, we had a mini party with music and stayed happy with lots of dancing.

A few reminders …

·  Year 6 learners need to be at school by 6-6:15am on Monday 30^th November. The bus will leave promptly.

·  Please bring a refillable water bottle (not a disposable one) and healthy snacks for the journey.

·  Any medication should be labeled with your child’s name and clear instructions for use. Please put it in a sealed bag or box and hand to Ms. Michaela by 6:15am on Monday 30^th November.

·  Pocket money – please do not bring any pocket money as this will be provided.

·  A signed camera waiver – this should have been returned to the office by yesterday (please see previous email)

Communication with Year 6 families during the residential visit to Siem Reap & Battambang

1.Families will be messaged by text & a post written on this Padlet on arrival at Kampot.

2.We will post a brief update on this Padlet (with a whole group photo) in the morning each day before starting activities.

3.The Year 6 Padlet will be updated with photos from the activities throughout the day where possible.

4.We will post a brief update on this Padlet early evening with a quick summary of the day and include a whole group photo.

5.Throughout the visit we will endeavour to share a comment from each learner at least once on this Padlet.

6.On our return journey families will be messaged (by text & a post written on Padlet) before departing in the morning.

7.An ETA at school will be shared at that point with a further message sent when about 30 minutes away from iCAN.
