The first thing I've noticed was the focus on Literacy and Math. Another thing I've learned was how focused the teachers are, as well as the positive relationships that the teachers have with each other. My first day was on Tuesday, and this day was more of an observation of the daily routine and also the response of the students to the teachers' methods of teaching. In order to become a good teacher, you have to follow the right teachers who give the kids what they need. 
-On Wednesday, I also learned the strategies that the teachers use to ensure that their children are receiving a quality education. There are keys to what is needed, and I witnessed this for myself. On the other days of the week, I ended up checking their homework from the day before, as well as grading the test and putting them in on the computer. I volunteered and was allowed to help the teacher by going over the Math work that was done earlier in the day. I also put into practice what my mentors were demonstrating. I observed that their skills with the students as teachers had a positive impact, so i modeled after them. Throughout this review with the class, I learned the names of some of the students as well. During this week, I was able to run the morning routine smoothly. There’s also a specific amount of time that has to be spent checking homework, and even going over both the Reading and Math homework from the previous day. 
During this week, my supervisor had also met the two cooperating teachers that I’m going to be working with for the first time as a student teacher. I also helped with the review for the test that they took this Friday coming up. I also viewed the way that teachers planned imdor the week, as well as the teacher development that’s typically done. I was able to help during the Book Club meetings that the kids from another third grade teacher had. All of the third grade teachers discussed what their children were struggling on, and this struggle was seen in all three classes. This struggle was what an idea was.  Someone else came in to the school to lead the development. She also showed the example of how to teach what the difference is between what is an idea and a detail. Each of us spoke to some kids in the other classroom, and I also noted some of the answers to open-ended conversations about what they read, and also if they came up with an idea or was able to make any predictions. On the week of February 12th, I will be having my first informal observation. I also will have a lesson plan prepared, which means that I would have a level of control in the success of the lesson. This was my third week of student teaching, and I also had my first informal observation in the classroom. Math was the subject I chose to teach, and I ended up doing more than was needed. I should have decided to keep it simple and uncomplicated, but clear and easy to understand. The assumption that I made was that the kids already knew how to make a graph and correctly label them was mistaken. They knew what a graph was when seeing it in a problem. When it came to having them draw the graph on their own and telling them all the steps, the children were very confused. One of my guiding teachers gave me advice that will always stick with me when teaching anything. I was told that a way to teach is “I do, we do, and then you do (the students do). When I did the rest of the lesson using this way, this made a difference. The students also have to be asked if they know what they are doing when they come back to their seats. I’m just glad that I had a guiding teacher that kept the class together when I made some questionable choices in the teaching process and making my intentions more direct. I was able to consistently run the morning schedule and realize what the kids needed over what they wanted. I’m also getting used to the weekly meetings, trainings, and planning which is key for constant improvement.
