Before the vacation started, we read a book that really caught their attention. The title of it is "Whose Hat is That" by Alison Boyle. They interacted with their teacher. They also did the maze to help Silly Cat meet his new friends and they all ended Story Time happily. After that, we said goodbye to each other.

After watching the video, the kids list down the things that they learned as well as their observations.

Firstly, they all agreed and recognized that the sun was too hot. Jiyoo said that the sun both have the colors yellow and orange and Alonso said that it was so hot that you couldn't touch it, while David said that it can make you sweat and it could burn you. He also added that "it looks like a fireball"

Everyone, also agreed that if you look directly into it, your eyes will get hurt and it's dangerous.

Some notes that we were able to list down were the following:

It was super big and all the planets could fit!
if we want to go there, (they remind us that it is dangerous to go to the sun), we need to use a spaceship! 

We used different tools, materials, and processes to recreate the sun. We used a paper plate, color red and orange cellophane, differently colored paper, glue, and plastic. Some of the observations and explanations were documented. These are the following: 

David said that what he did was what the sun looked like when it was far away, while Alonso piled up the pieces of cellophane and papers and Aesha put the red cellophane on her plate because the sun was super hot. 

We also did different outdoor activities that would help us understand the sun more.

Indeed, we enjoyed the warmth and the heat of Mr. Sun!

David said that his dark skies are a humongous cloud covering the skies. "It's the rain cloud ready to pour rain." 

Jiyoo painted using these two colors.

With their paintings, we saw that they really had different ideas of a dark sky.

In this picture, we read the story entitled "The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Very Hungry Bear" Some kids voiced out that they are afraid of bears and that they didn't like that story. But, teacher Yvonne promised them that there would be no scary bears in the book! Just the little mouse learning how to share the ripe red strawberry!

As we sang the last part where we say "I love you", the kids decided to have a group hug, so we all went for a hug as we said our "I love you" to each other. 

We all know that rain comes from the sky, but why does it fall from it? and why do the clouds look so dark and heavy before it rains? Hopefully, we will all find out after this week. 

After that, we had a little discussion on how they think the rain is formed. Alonso, Aesha, and the others all agreed that after it rain comes the rainbow

On the other hand, David agreed with what Clara said that rain is formed when the clouds clumped together to form a big cloud and it would get dark and heavy and then the rain would fall. 

Clara said that the ice on top (skies) is getting heavier as the plastic falls. 

Alonso mentioned that the smoke from the "bodies of water" is going up and that the ice is cold.

We explored the water cycles today too! Teachers prepared a paper plate with a diagram of how the water cycle works and we tried to manipulate it! We saw how the water from the bodies of water goes up into the sky where clouds collect it, as it gets heavy, it will fall and becomes rain, goes into the ground and goes back up to the bodies of water and it will "happen again and again, and again" as what the kids' say.

After having a short discussion, we let ourselves have fun in the cold water under the hot sun!
