Porfirio Díaz takes power by defeating Maximilian and the French, and pushing them out of Mexico. He ruled for 35 years in total, and from 1880 to 1884 through Manuel González. This represents change, the French were in control of the Mexican throne before Porfirio Díaz took control.

American soldiers were part of an incident in Veracruz and were arrested. In response to this, America sent 800 soldiers to Veracruz, using this as an excuse to invade Mexico and get rue of Huerta. Huerta flees to Spain. This represents significance because this is an example of Americans foreign involvement in other countries, and this impacted Mexico greatly.

Villa, Zapata, Carranza, and Obregón all attend to decide who will be the next leader of Mexico. This results in a civil war, Carranza and Obregón as constitutionalists, Zapata and Villa as Conventionalists. This represents causation, because the civil war was started because of the debate over the Hacienda system, and whether or not it should be abolished.

Carranza calls constitutional convention to write a new constitution for Mexico in September 1916. This constitution had many socialist aspects and was more radical than any other constitution seen in Mexico before. This represents continuity, as the laws outlined in the Constitution ended up getting carried out (slightly differing per presidency), but continuing on in Mexico nonetheless.

He gets elected after organizing a coup against Carranza, and Carranza is killed. When the USA officially recognized Obregón as the leader of Mexico in 1923, his popularity drops immensely. This represents significance, as one can see that the support of the US in Obregóns presidency shows how the people of Mexico view anyone who collaborates with the US as a traitor.
