         <title>Student Protests at Berkley</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>These were student protests at University of California at Berkley in 1964. The students were protesting for free speech because the school was restricting their rights. One student was even arrested for distributing Civil Rights literature. The movement launched massive sit-ins and protests that would help define a generation of student activism across the country. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Martin Luther King Jr. was a very prominent leader of the Civil Rights movement in the 1960's. He was fatally shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968. King was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. that evening. There were riots and tensions were high after he was killed.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During a protest at Kent State University the Ohio National Guard opened fire on a crowd gathered to protest the Vietnam War. Four Kent State University students were killed and nine were injured on May 4, 1970. Twenty-nine guardsmen fired approximately 67 rounds over a period of 13 seconds, killing four students and wounding nine others, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis. Some students who were shot weren't even participating in the protests.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Brown was the only school in the Ivy League that did not call the cops in the Vietnam era.&nbsp; 65 black students from Brown and Pembroke College walk out of class to occupy the Congdon St. Baptist Church for five days, in protest of the University's racist admission practices. The late 1960s were an era of major student-led change at Brown. In 1968, black students participated in a five-day demonstration to protest the University’s lack of support for students of color.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One of the largest military campaigns of the Vietnam War, launched on January 30, 1968, by forces of the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese People's Army of Vietnam against the forces of the South Vietnamese Army. There&nbsp;was a treaty signed so there wouldn't be battle on the holiday, but the South Vietnamese Army and US were attacked despite the treaty. It was a really hard loss for the US. It caused a lot of issues back home. </div>]]></description>
