By virtue of the fact that she is a teacher, she has the power of the class. Equally, Nick is also a strong character and has great influence. Is his influence greater than that of his teachers?</p><p><br/></p><p>3. Order and Chaos: Parents were supportive of Nick (acceptance of the chaos), yet very careful about the repercussions that would happen down the road depending on what he said at interviews and how they presented themselves to the Principal etc. (wanting to keep order in the public sphere)</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I think this book actually portrayed a dynamic power of words, through the conflict between creativity and established order.</p><p><br/></p><p>On first glance, it seems that words are this powerful tools used by humans and is created by hundreds of smart people years ago. </p><p><br/></p><p>However, we then see a shift in the power where words used can be changed relatively easily, in the case of Frindle where it eventually got added into the dictionary because of the number of people using the word. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>My reflections on "Power of Words" would be that a word, regardless of how meaningless it may initially be, can take on meanings when it is used by many over a sustained period of time. It shows how language is constantly evolving and can influence the society too, like the Internet lingo we see today. e.g. When getting the class to guess the action their classmate is acting out, one said: "Farming aura!"</p><p><br/></p><p>I think it is an important theme as we can see how the conflict between Nick and Mrs Granger escalated over just a simple word. The complications that arose came about because they both have different interpretations of how words can come about and be used by society. We also saw a battle of wits between them as they both tried many times to fight their battle through words.</p>]]></description>
