I was born on a cold and winter day at Riverside Hospital in Newport News. The first three years of my life were spent at my grandparents house. My parents and I lived with my grandparents until they saved enough money to move to our home in Grassfield area. During this time, I learned what to trust in my environment and paid attention to dangers. This stage of my life in the Erikson's Stages of Psychosocial Development is known as trust vs. mistrust stage.

This photo is from one of the first experiences with snow I encountered when I was two. I was curious at first and wanted to throw the snow, but I didn't realize how cold it was. I picked it up quickly then began to cry. My Mom took the snow away, while I was trying to be independent, and made me pose for this picture. I thought I could hold the snow for some time, but it was too much for my defiant brain. This is an example of Erikson's early childhood shame and doubt stage because I was doubtful of my parents advice and tried to defy their cautions. I really should've smiled for the photo. 😂

I started preschool when I was two years old at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. During this time, I did new activities and learned with hands-on experiences. I joined the tiny choir that they held and made new friends. In the choir, my teacher even told me that I had a perfect pitch! I listened (mostly) to instructions from my peers. This is an example of stage 3 of Eriksons' model: preschool initiative and guilt because of my desire to take action and to learn the people in my environment.

I only did this for kindergarten, but I still love seeing the clips of me spinning around with music and my friends. The girl to my right was my best friend throughout kindergarten and preschool named Anna. During this age, I also did things with my personal church, Great Bridge Baptist, which had a children's choir and hand bells.

Around this time, my parents graduated in 2013 and finally saved enough money to move into our first home! It was exciting to move, but it was a big adjustment to a new public school. This was my first grade year. I would experience some fun times in elementary school, but at first it was challenging! It's not fun being the new kid, while left out. Soon I found my peers, but during times of struggle, the nice teachers and choir I was in made the time worthwhile. This is an example of Eriksons' stage 4: school age industry vs. inferiority, since I dealt with some conflicts regarding this transition. Speaking of homes, we have our own Christmas light show! Its entertaining for all ages!

With COVID, I experienced some troubles with my hobbies. I still continued with music, but stopped sports. I was also confused about my school role because it was complicated working online then switching to in-person. I preferred online, so it was hard for me to go back. I tried a new sport just before COVID which was volleyball. I think I would've pursued this in high school if COVID did not happen, but it did. COVID built my patience and perseverance as a child, so it wasn't the worst thing for me to experience. But, I will say that it was an interesting time going back. Because of this role confusion and identity issues, I would classify this time period of my life as stage 5: adolescence.

In June 2031, I wanted to publish a music album that can be about life experiences or my own life experiences. I've learned that through music, if you make some of it generalized, most people can relate to it. I will try to play the piano in this song too. Maybe I can even have a famous singer involved too! I will try and raise some fame, but not too much because living in the limelight can come with some hardships.

Summer of 2072 ~ Retirement

I will most likely retire around the age of 65, tired of the busy work schedule and ready for relaxation. I will most likely find a part-time job to occupy some time. During my early retirement years I will probably join a choir at a small local church and continue to sing. By how much I will be singing throughout my life, I hope that these vocal cords will be singing on my death bed. 😂 Also, I will hang out with my relatives and check up on my children. I will visit them when they want to hang out and always be there for them.

2075-2085 ~ Learning some new hobbies and opportunities!

Since I am retired, I will try to take on some new hobbies to occupy myself. This is an example of the despair part of stage 8 in Eriksons' model, since I am trying to avoid the sadness in my elderly age. I will take up hobbies like cooking, crochet, and new musical instruments. I might publish one last album with these new talents. For the ego integrity of Eirksons' model, I will try to accept the amount of life I have lived and accept that I will hopefully have more years. Religion will play a key role with this because prayer will calm my tensions.

Rest in true peace. I will have lived a long life. I hope that my grandchildren or great grandchildren by this time inherit lots of money and leave my dead body alone. I will hope that my future grandchildren will live for God as I have and be compassionate to others. ❤
