1. Timeline: Create a timeline that includes the most important events from the novel. Your timeline should have a minimum of 10 events from beginning to end.  

 

2. Postcard: Write to Mr. Heideman the author, or a character in the book about the book. Mention: setting, interesting or boring characters, climax, good or bad ending, genre, etc. Create a postcard and include a minimum of 10 sentences.  

 

3. Downgrade: Change your story for a younger audience; make into a children’s book or a dramatic short video. Use color, construction paper, or other media!  

 

4. Fictional Friends: Who of all the characters would you want for a friend? Why? What would you do or talk about together? Write a minimum of 10 sentences. 

 

5. iMovie Trailer/Stop Motion Video: Create a movie (using an app) that would make someone want to read your book. Include: title, author, names of characters, and important events. Don’t give away the ending!  

 

6. P.S: After you read the story, write an extended ending in which you explain what happens to the character (s) next. Minimum of 10 sentences! 

 

7. Draw!: Translate chapters into storyboards and cartoons; draw the most important scene in the chapter and explain its importance. *You may use the Draw and Doodle app, Subway Paint app, or the Glow Draw app.  

 

8. Collage: create a collage around themes or characters in the book using magazines/newspapers! 

 

9. Sing me a song or rap: write a song or rap about the story, a character, or an event in the book.  

 

10. Dear Diary: Keep a diary as if you were a character in the story. Write down events that happened during the story and reflect on how they affected you and made you feel. Minimum of 5 diary entries with 5 sentences each.  

 

11. Make your own test: create a test with 10 questions over the novel. Create an answer key too!  

 

12. Prepare a speech on the Theme: Write at least a three minute speech on the theme of the book. Explain the overall message and theme of the book. Support your assertion with evidence from the book. Provide a short summary of the book read without giving away the ending! 

 

13. Board Game: design a board game based on your novel. Include a game board, directions, and questions that related to the setting, characters, theme, and events, in the novel.  

 

14. Author Introduction: research the author of your book and prepare a speech to introduce the author. Include facts about their life and other books they have written.
