The 35mm camera could take lots of pictures but they were much easier and faster to develop making them for efficient when trying to see what your final results would look like.

Once all of the exposures have been used you would rewind the film to go into a canister which would than be removed and would be sealed so no light could pass through. Than you would send these film cartridges to be developed

A glass sheet was coated with collodion a type of chemical. Then  put into a thing of silver nitrate which caused it to become sesitive to light it was then placed in a box with no light at all. The negative (in the box) would be placed inside the camera then a panel in the light-proof holder, known as the "dark slide," with the lens cap of the camera, would be removed for several seconds, thereby taking the photograph.
