Immigrants play a role in the US food system because they make up 17 percent of civilian employed in the US in 2014-2018. These immigrants work in growing, harvesting, processing, and selling foods in the US. I think that immigrants go to the US to take the jobs that Americans don't want. " They played an outsized role in food production, making up 22 percent of workers in the U.S. food supply chain. " (MPI)

Immigrants fill low wage jobs that Americans would not take. The US have tried to recruit citizens so that they take these low paying jobs they just would not. So immigrants are willing to take tases jobs. These immigrants are responsible for the production of fruits and vegetables. I think that it is true that immigrants take these jobs because it is all they know how to do. In their country they were raised to do these kind of jobs. The US should recognize their effort and help out their families. "In addition to fair enforcement of immigration laws, the United States needs a way to legalize farm workers and reform our agricultural guest worker programs to support both immigrant families and farmers."

Economically

If the immigrants were not able to work for the US and their farms then their output would fall. "If agriculture were to lose access to all undocumented workers, agricultural output would fall by $30 to $60 billion." This means that the immigrants help a lot with producing and making fruits and animals. If they lost their immigrants then they would have to decrease the price of food because it is not selling good enough and they would have a huge loss. I think that immigrants play a big role in this part, economically, because they work hard and for a cheap price.
