To me, it means that looks isn't everything. Someone might have good looks but have a bad personality and we might think that they are a good person because of their looks. From the novel, "Asi, Selena, a los catorce anos, se transformo con un nuevo look...Selena tenia una apariencia mas madura" (Chapter 3). Selena's parents made Selena look older by telling her to wear clothes and makeup to make her not look like she was 14.

I have heard this phrase before and it is important because things are assumed about people based on how they look even if it isn't true. It applies to the novela we are reading because Selena's father judged Chris based off of what he looked like. He thought that Chris's appearance did not help with the look the band was looking for. Por ejemplo en capitulo 5, "¡NO! No me gusta nada. Tiene apariencia de rockero. Esa no es la imagen que necesitamos para El grupo." Selena's father had judged him too quickly and he was very good at playing the guitar with the group.

To me the topic means that you shouldn't judge others by their looks. I can connect to it because there is times when I was younger where I judged the way food my mother made looked, but in the end it actually tasted good. It apply's to the novela we are reading because Selena's father judged the way Chris looked instead of judging his skills at guitar. In chapter 5 it says "NO! No me gusta nada. Tiene apariencia de rockero."

Both Selena and Chris were judged just from how they look. Selena's father had judged Chris off of what he looked like. Selena was judged off what she was wearing.

I don't think people should be jundge by their looks but people do that. I cant really connect but its a everyday thing. Selena felt the need to change her appearance by changing her hair, clothing style and wear makeup because she was being judged by her audience and parents. She was trying to look older for her age. For example it states, "Selena, a los catorce anos, se transformo con un neuvo look. Selena tenia una apariencia mas madura" I connect with Selena because I have felt the need to change things about my appearance in order for certain people to like me.
