Think of a recent lesson you've taught or planned. How could you redesign it using digital tools to make it more interactive and engaging for students? What specific features or strategies would you use, and how do you think they would impact student participation and learning? (Ensure your responses demonstrate the integration of interactivity and engagement elements in digital learning resources, and make effective use of the specified software tools.)

To make a colors and shapes lesson more exciting for kindergartens, I’d bring in fun digital tools like ABCmouse, Jamboard, and Puppet Pals. These would let kids explore through games, draw and match shapes, and enjoy simple stories. Adding a virtual scavenger hunt and live Zoom sessions with interactive features would keep them actively involved. Altogether, these strategies would make learning feel more like play, helping students stay engaged, express creativity, and really connect with the lesson.

One recent lesson I taught was on Ibong Adarna, a classic piece of Philippine literature. While the traditional method of storytelling and discussion has always been valuable, I saw an opportunity to redesign the lesson using digital tools to make it more interactive and engaging for my students.

To begin with, I integrated interactive storytelling platforms such as Genially or Google Slides with embedded audio and video, where students could explore the narrative in a "choose-your-own-path" format. By designing the story to branch based on student choices (example: what Don Juan should do next), students engaged more deeply with the plot and were encouraged to think critically about character motivations and consequences.

I also used Kahoot! and Quizizz to gamify comprehension checks after each chapter. These platforms not only helped assess understanding in a fun, competitive way but also kept students excited and motivated to participate.

To foster creativity and collaborative learning, I had students use Canva or Padlet to create digital character maps, timelines, or visual interpretations of the enchanted scenes in Ibong Adarna. This allowed them to apply their understanding visually, while also sharing and commenting on each other's work promoting both engagement and peer feedback.

Finally, I assigned a digital storytelling project using Flip (formerly Flipgrid), where students recorded themselves performing a dramatic retelling of a scene, integrating traditional Filipino values and modern-day parallels. This strategy helped them practice oral fluency, creativity, and critical thinking, all while building confidence.

These digital tools transformed the lesson from a passive reading activity into a dynamic, student-centered experience. The integration of interactivity made students more involved and gave them ownership of their learning. Participation increased significantly, especially from students who were typically quiet during traditional discussions. More importantly, their comprehension and appreciation for Filipino literature deepened through active engagement with both the content and their peers.

I choose design the topic I taught, Ibong Adarna interactively for Grade 7 using digital tools, I recommend using Classcraft. This software allows you to create a gamified learning expirience, where the story is divided into quests. Students complete challenges such as reading sections, answering quizzes, or solving puzzles about Ibong Adrna to unlock the next part of the story. The specific strategy used is gamification through quests and rewards, which motivates students by turning learning into a game. The impact on students includes increased engagement, improved comprehension, and enhanced collaboration as they work together to progress. This method makes the classic story more exciting and memorable while developing students’ critical thinking and teamwork skills.

Recently, I taught a Filipino lesson on “Pagkilala sa Kayarian ng Pang-uri” (Identifying the structure of adjectives). To make this lesson more interactive and engaging, I would redesign it using Google Slides, Kahoot!, and Canva. Instead of using a plain lecture format, I would create a Google Slides presentation that includes embedded videos and drag-and-drop activities using the “Pear Deck” extension. This allows students to interact with the slides in real-time by answering questions, highlighting words, or matching adjectives to images.

To assess understanding in a fun way, I would use Kahoot! for a live quiz at the end of the lesson. This game-based platform encourages participation and gives immediate feedback, which boosts engagement. For a creative output, students would use Canva to design a short digital poster or comic strip using Filipino adjectives. These tools not only make the lesson more dynamic but also cater to different learning styles—visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Overall, these strategies would likely increase student participation, encourage collaboration, and deepen understanding through interactive and student-centered learning experiences.

About months ago I taught about the different proper use of punctuation marks. I decided to use informational infographics. I specifically used Canva there. It is very use-friendly and there is lot of templates there. It saves me so much time in doing the instructional materials. The informational infographics helps because the big information (just like the different the punctuations marks) will be congested into small details. So the students will not be intimidated with the lessons.

I would redesign it using Google Slides and Adobe Express to make it more interactive. I’d create a collaborative Google Slides presentation where students can add examples of different governments from around the world in real-time. Then, using Adobe Express, I’d ask students to design short posters or videos explaining one government type.

This way, students get involved by researching, creating, and sharing their work. The real-time collaboration in Google Slides would boost participation, and making posters or videos with Adobe Express would help students understand the topic better by being creative. Overall, it makes learning more fun and engaging!

I could redesign the topic about “Barayti ng Wika” with the use of digital tools to make it more interactive and engaging for the teaching and learning. I would use canva for my presentation and add some audio or video for the example of my topic instead of plain text that be presented. For the real-life situation activity, I would have tiktok style videos that students will show the different language or the dialects. Also, I will assign the different scenario and language for every group of students that will be use them in the presentation. This activity will be fun and allows the students to be more creative. For the assessment, I would use quizizz to test their learning ability and analysis skills and it will be increases motivation to every student. With the use of quizizz the students can guess the variety, and get instant feedback with explanations. Using digital tools make it more enjoyable and show the importance of learning by doing. It show that the learner is not only having fun in the discussion but they are learning with fun.

Erika Mae R. Verana

0324-5363

As a teacher, I am looking for a ways to make my lessons more dynamic and interactive to better facilitate student learning. Recently, I planned a lesson in Grade 1 on the topic about "Say two or three words that rhyme". Traditionally, I taught this lesson using PowerPoint slides with definitions and examples and also realia/real objects which students connect abstract concepts to the real world. But realizing it has a lack of interactivity, thats why I prepare quizzes which encourages active participation and keeps students engaged. Also to understand the lesson and correct the misconception before proceed to other topic.

Another one, QR Code Generator which needs a online access to scan the QR, which I print and link inside a short audio clips or videos of sight words being read aloud or Two or three words that rhyme (using tools like QR Code Generator and Google Drive or YouTube)

Overall, digital learning tools help students take part in lessons more actively by making learning fun and interactive. They support different ways students learn and include things like videos, games, and group work. Lastly, these tools transform students from passive listeners into active learners which increasing motivation, curiosity, and ownership of their learning.
